With the growing concerns around COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Search Solution Executive understands how scary this outbreak is, and we hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy.
On a work-related note, we receive daily requests from people seeking remote jobs. Maybe you can’t relocate, or you have a long commute, or you need the flexibility because of childcare – whatever the reason, now is a pivotal point that will determine if you’ll be able to work from home in the future.
Let’s prove you have what it takes to work remote. Here are 4 ways to crush working from home this week.
- Over-communicate – The best way to build trust with your employer and the rest of your team is through communication. Especially if your company has no precedent for working from home, over-communicate everything: send your supervisor your daily plans, EOD recaps, etc.
- Give clear direction to your direct reports – For those who have a team, provide clear direction so that everyone understands daily expectations. Accessibility should not decrease, use communication tools like Slack, and Microsoft Teams, or simply share your cell number to maintain seamless communication.
- Control your attitude and effort – Given the current climate, many things are out of our control, making it our responsibility to focus on what we can control. Attitude and effort are huge when it comes to staying positive and productive. Don’t let fear or panic paralyze you from achieving your goals.
- Follow a daily schedule – Keeping a schedule increases productivity regardless of where you decide to work. Planning out your day and sticking to that plan is crucial to avoiding distractions. There are many tools available to help keep you and your team on track. Trello and Monday are just a few examples of free software that you can implement today to stay on track and accomplish more.
Remember… you control if you’re able to work from home in the future, and the work we do today will be referenced for years to come. Don’t mess it up for everyone. Remain calm and stay focused.
